Mobility, Access Heterogeneity and Security for Next Generation Public Safety Communications
نویسندگان
چکیده
Next Generation Public Safety Communication (PSC) is a crucial topic for research community worldwide. There is a strong need of research towards Public Safety user requirements, such as mobility and security support in a system architecture able to interconnect heterogeneous access technologies belonging to different agencies and jurisdiction. In this work, a combination of Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) and Host Identity Protocol (HIP) is proposed, in order to benefit from a complete macro and micro-mobility management protocol with the added values of intra and inter-technologies handover and multi-homing features for a heterogeneous and secure network with minimum impact on Public Safety mobile user terminals. This new approach is applied to our proposed ad-hoc satellite and wireless mesh architecture for emergency mobile communications and a complete description of the PMIPv6-HIP mobility management phases is provided.

Performance Analysis of a Secure Seamless Handover Mechanism in All-IP Networks
Beyond third generation or B3G is the next generation of mobile networks that will comprise a heterogeneity of radio access technologies with a common IP core. Support for terminal mobility and thus handover is a key feature of these networks. Handover occurs when a terminal changes its point of attachment from one access router to another. Communication is not possible during the change in poi...
متن کاملSecurity Management in the Next Generation Wireless Networks
In this paper, we make an introduction to the security management in the next generation wireless mobile networks, including the access security mechanisms in the circuited-switched domain, packet-switched domain and emerging IP multimedia subsystem domain. Several research challenges are identified, including security architecture with network heterogeneity, energy-security tradeoffs and mobil...
متن کاملBroadband Wireless Internet Access in Public Transportation
Mobile broadband Internet access is an important issue for next generation networks. Users not only want to access their broadband services and applications at home but also en-route. This is technically challenging especially in the transportation environment as it has to deal with high mobility and many customers. The “Broadband Wireless Internet Access in Public Transportation” (BIT) project...
متن کاملIPsec-based end-to-end VPN deployment over UMTS
Next generation mobile users require flexible security mechanisms, which provide customized security services to data traffic, take into account end-user mobility and mobile network characteristics, and are available anywhere–anytime. An IPsecbased end-to-end Virtual Private Network (VPN) deployment scheme over the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) is proposed and analysed. The U...
متن کاملAccess and Mobility Policy Control at the Network Edge
The fifth generation (5G) system architecture is defined as service-based and the core network functions are described as sets of services accessible through application programming interfaces (API). One of the components of 5G is Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) which provides the open access to radio network functions through API. Using the mobile edge API third party analytics applications ...
